|Trend forecasting to the outsider appears a bit like crystal ball gazing.
But having met leading UK futurist, Victoria Redshaw of Scarlet Opus recently at Decor + Design in Melbourne, we now know that this is far from the truth!
As Scarlet Opus returned for Decor & Design for the third in a row, Art Hide was fortunate enough to be selected as one of ten exhibitors for their sold-out Trend Tours.
Phil and Victoria in action during their Trend Tours“There is a veil of mystery around it, however the truth is a huge amount of research and information gathering goes into trend forecasting. It covers a whole variety of areas, for example both fashion and interiors influence each other, as do architecture and furniture design. So it's like a jigsaw puzzle of pulling pieces of information together to form a picture of what is going to be a trend,” she says. “For Decor and Design we chose 10 exhibitors who showcased exceptional products relating to our trends for this year's show, which were Analogue Workshop, Desert Wanderer and Organic Matter.” We were keen to understand why she selected Art Hide among the amazing talent at this year's show. “We originally discovered Art Hide several years back when I was preparing for a seminar at a flooring show in America - we were researching which companies were the very best in the world when it came to cowhide rug design. The answer was quite simply Art Hide!
Our Angulo and Nueva Raya styles fit the Tribe Trend"Art Hide is respected in the design community internationally for their bespoke & custom work - wall panels, chair backs, ottomans, bedheads are all possible. "We have been including images of Art Hide's work in our trend seminars at international events ever since and so we were particularly delighted to find the brand were exhibiting here at Décor + Design,” she says.
